I Saw the Sign. And Then Again - My mom, Carol Ann

We all receive signs from our loved ones who have passed.

My mom passed away in early January 2015 from lung cancer. She was a great mom. She wasn’t perfect, but she loved me and my brother fiercely. She was my biggest cheerleader! And she was very intuitive. After Francesca died in 2008, we frequently talked about life after death and receiving signs from the other side.

Although heartbroken, I was a bit excited she was on the other side just because of all our conversations. About a week after she died, she visited me in a dream to say hi. She simply said she missed us so much, but she was all right. I was grateful for the sign, but I expected something a bit flashier. Our lives went on. She’d send signs here and there, especially the first few months, such as a white feather immediately in my path, the smell of smoke (because she was a lifelong smoker), or a nursery rhyme she used to sing to our daughter (“Baa Baa Black Sheep”). The signs comforted me.

Fast forward 4 years to around Mother’s Day. I hadn’t heard from my mom in a while, so I asked her to send me a sign that I would know was unmistakably her. A few days pass. The Friday before Mother’s Day, I decided to scroll through products on my Walgreens app to see if there were any deals (something I never did at the time as I preferred to shop in stores). I stop and my mouth drops open when I see an advertisement for a shampoo called “Carol’s Daughter.” I had never even heard of this brand of shampoo before! That, of course, was her unmistakable sign for me. My eyes welled up and I choked out “thank you” aloud. How fantastic was that?!

I love it!
